How much sleep do you need according to your age?

In order to live a healthy life, you need to eat properly, exercise every day and get enough sleep. The lack of rest can have serious physical and psychological effects that may affect the quality of your life. The amount of sleep we need in order to maintain a good mind and body varies based on our age. Find out how many hours you need to sleep each night in order to be healthy. The following sleep durations are recommended by the National Sleep Foundation.

Babies that are 0 to 3 months old need to get 14-17 hours of sleep every day. While 11-13 hours or 18-19 hours may be appropriate for some of them, a newborn should never sleep less than 11 hours or more than 19 hours each day.

From 4 to 11 months, the recommended sleeping duration goes down to 12-15 hours per day. While 10-11 hours and 16-18 hours may be appropriate for some children, an infant should never sleep less than 10 hours or more than 18 hours per day.

Kids that are 1-2 years old need 11-14 hours of sleep every day. While 9-10 hours or 15-16 hour may be appropriate for some of them, a toddler should never sleep less than 9 hours or more than 16 hours every day.

From 3 to 5 years, the recommended sleeping duration goes down to 10-13 hours. At this age, a child should never sleep less than 8 hours or more than 14 hours per night.

From 6 to 13 years, kids are recommended 9 to 11 hours of sleep every day. In order to be healthy, they should never sleep less than 7 hours or more than 12 hours per night.

Adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Between 18 and 25 years, you should never sleep less than 6 hours or more than 11 hours each night.
