10 People With Strange Deformities You Won't Believe Are Real
We all have small body imperfections we don't necessarily love. However, you'll feel a whole lot luckier after you finish reading about these people who were either born with or developed conditions that deformed their bodies in a very strange manner.
1. The Ulas Family
Five members of this Turkish family were born with an unusual condition that causes them to walk on all fours. The five are siblings and were born from normal parents. What they have is a form of congenital brain impairment, they are mentally retarded and have problems in balancing on two legs.
2. Sultan Kösen, the tallest man in the world
Sultan holds the Guinness World record for the tallest living male. The Turkish farmer is 251 centimeters tall, due to a condition named "acromegaly" which was caused by a tumor that affected his pituitary gland.
3. Real horns
Some people do have real horns and they are no evil creatures. What they have is "cutaneous horns", an unusual type of a skin tumor that may look like an animal horn, wood or coral.
4. The Wolf Man
Jesus Aceves was born with a condition named hypertrichosis, which causes thick hair to grow all over his face. About 30 members of his family have this condition, which makes the Aceves Family the hairiest family in the world. Jesus grew up in Mexico where he quickly earned the nickname "The Little Wolf", due to his appearance. He has three daughters, who were all born with the same condition.
5. Verne Troyer
The American actor has a condition named achondroplasia dwarfism, which makes him one of the shortest men in the world (81 cm).
6. Turtle Boy
This was the nickname Didier Montalvo got, due to a disease that caused moles growing fast all over his body. One of them grew so huge, it made his back look like a turtle shell and made his life really hard. Things changed after the British surgeon Neil Bulstrode removed the mole, allowing the Colombian child to live a normal life.
7. The Tree Man
Dede Koswara is an Indonesian man who was diagnosed with Epidermodysplasia verruciformis, a rare fungal infection. This condition causes hard fungal growths that resemble the tree bark to grow on his skin.
8. The Blue Man
Paul Karason was an American man who suffered from Argyria, a condition caused by excessive exposure to silver. Many years ago, the man began using a silver-based preparation to treat a skin disease and eventually turned blue. Sadly, in 2013 he passed away after he suffered a heart attack.
9. The man with a starry eye
A man in Austria had to see a doctor because 9 months after he got punched, his vision deteriorated and a star appeared in one of his eyes. This had nothing to with romance or anything else and was, in fact, a multi-pointed cataract he developed due to the hit. The pretty star was removed by the doctors.
10. The three-legged man
Frank A. Lentini was an Italian-American showman who was born with a parasitic twin and as a result, had three legs. The twin was attached to his body at the base of his spine and consisted of a pelvis bone, a rudimentary set of genitalia and a full-size leg with a small foot protruding from its knee.
