10 Useful microwave hacks that will change your life

Check out these amazing things you can do using your microwave.

1. Peel the garlic

Microwave the garlic for 15 seconds and its skin will come off in no time.

2. Soften the bread

The hard bread slices that are a couple of days old can be freshened by microwaving them for 20 seconds.

3. Easy peel the citrus fruits

Oranges, grapefruits or lemons are easier to peel after being microwaved for 10 seconds.

4. Bake the walnuts

You only need 60 seconds to bake the walnuts in the microwave. Put them in a bowl, add a bit of oil and stir every 15 seconds.

5. The perfect crispy bacon

By frying the bacon in a pan, it usually gets too greasy or soaked in oil. To make those perfect crispy stripes, cover the bacon in paper towels and microwave it for one minute.

6. Soak the dried beans

You normally need to let the dried beans soak in water over night before you cook them. You can rush this process by placing them in a bowl with 3 cups of water for each cup of beans and microwave them for 12-15 minutes. Let them rest for an hour, rinse them and they're ready to be cooked.

7. Slice the onion without crying

Before slicing the onion, microwave it for 30 seconds. You'll peel it easier and there won't be any tears involved.

8. Make dough rise faster

You normally have to wait a while for the dough to rise. You can speed up this process using this simple trick. Place the bowl with the dough in another bowl filled with water and microwave it at low power for the first 3 minutes and high power for the next 3. Let it rest for another 6 minutes and you'll notice it has doubled its volume.

9. Easy clean your microwave

You can easily clean your microwave using a bowl with water and vinegar. Heat it for 5 minutes and then wipe its interior with a clean rag.

10. Melt the crystalized honey

Natural honey crystallizes, but you can make it smooth again by microwaving the jar - without the lid - for a couple of minutes, at medium power.
