NASA Is Training This 17-Year-Old Girl To Go To Mars
Meet Alyssa Carson, a 17-year-old girl who is training to become an astronaut. She is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and NASA is preparing her to go to Mars.
Alyssa Carson is only 17 years old.
Even though she is very young, she already knows what she wants to do when she grows up.
Her dream is to be on the 2033 first human mission to Mars and become the first person there.
The mission is part of the effort to establish a human colony on Mars.
Alyssa was the first person to complete the NASA Passport Program, by going to all 14 NASA Visitor Centers.
She was also the youngest person to graduate from the Advanced Possum Academy, which makes her an astronaut trainee and officially certified to go to space.
Even though the training takes a lot of her time, she is also studying all her school subjects in 4 languages: English, Chinese, French, and Spanish.
She is also a public speaker, who aims to drag interest to space exploration and encourages everyone to follow their dreams.
Alyssa started her own foundation, "Blueberry Foundation", which aims to encourage kids to seek their dreams and give them opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have.
"Always follow your dream and don't let anyone take it from you", she says.
