Science Confirms It: Messy Night Owls Who Swear A Lot Are Highly Intelligent
According to scientists, if you're messy, you go to bed late and you have the mouth of a sailor, you're highly intelligent.
1. Science has finally confirmed that being messy has nothing to do with laziness.
In fact, Eric Abrahamson and David H. Freedman, authors of "A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder", say that people with messy desks are more effective in prioritizing their work.
A research found that messy environments boost your creativity. In a study conducted by the University of Minnesota, two groups were asked to find new ways to use a ping-pong ball. The first group was placed in a tidy room and the second in a messy one. While both teams came up with the same number of ideas, the second one produced far more innovative ideas.
Besides being intelligent and creative, messy people need courage to constantly accept criticism and to always go against social constructs. Instead of wasting time on worrying about small things, like tidying up their rooms or desks, people who are messy focus on the big picture. They have more important things on their minds, they are spontaneous, adventurous and they adapt easily.
2. According to science, the later you go to bed, the smarter you are.
A study run on young American individuals revealed that those with higher IQ scores go to bed later on weeknights and weekends than the others. The results showed that children with an IQ less than 75 go to bed around 23.41 in early adulthood, while those with an IQ higher than 125 go to bed around 00.29.
Night owls are deep thinkers. They spend that extra time to reflect, learn, or find creative solutions to their problems. They go against social constructs, they defy the 9-5 rule and instead of going to bed when everyone else does, they prefer to expand their minds, which turns them into great leaders.
Unlike those who go to bed early, they are more relaxed and open-minded. They often stay out late in bars, they have healthy sex lives and they spend a lot of time with creative people, expanding their horizons.
3. People who swear are highly intelligent, according to science.
Until recently, bad language was seen as a sign of a poor vocabulary. But studies have shown the opposite: psychologists from Marist College found links between how fluent a person is in English and how fluent they are in swearing.
It turns out that people who swear aren't doing so because they can't express themselves differently or lack intelligence, but in order to communicate with maximum effectiveness.
Another study conducted at the University of Rochester linked the bad language with high IQ scores. According to their report, people with high IQs swear, eat spicy breakfast, and walk around naked in their homes.
