Woman Gives Birth To Twins At 73 Years-Old And Becomes World's Oldest Mom
Have any of you ladies ever heard the phrase "You should have a child because you're not getting any younger"?This woman gave birth to not one, but two babies, at 73.
This woman has waited 60 years to become a mother, and finally saw her dream come true. 73-year-old Erramatti Mangayamma and her 82-year-old husband have been married for 57 years. After an IVF treatment, they finally fulfilled their dream of becoming parents.
They have 2 healthy girls, who came via cesarean section at Ahalya Hospital, in southern India, on September 5.
Doctor Umasankar, from Ahalya Hospital, said:
"As she is old, she cannot release eggs so we got eggs from a donor and collected sperm from her husband.
Luckily, she conceived in the first cycle itself and she was found to be pregnant this January.
It was smooth, as there were no health complications. Each baby is weighing approximately 2kgs and both the babies are healthy.
I don't think she will have any major health issues in the post-delivery period.
However, she cannot breast-feed the babies. But no worries. We can feed the babies with milk obtained from the milk bank."
She was taken to intensive care after delivery, and according to her doctor, she is 'safe and healthy'.
When asked who would care for the babies if anything were to happen to the parents, as they aren't really young, the 82-year-old father said:
'Nothing is in our hands. Whatever should happen will happen. It is all in the hands of God.'
Unfortunately, one day after he became a father, he suffered a stroke and is currently in the hospital. Hopefully, he'll recover soon, as he's got a lot of work as a father of twins.
Mangayamma said having kids was important to them, as they were stigmatized in their village, with people calling her 'a childless lady.
'We tried many times and saw numerous doctors, so this is the happiest time of my life.'
Now, Mangayamma is believed to have become the oldest mother in the world. Before her, the title belonged to another Indian woman, Dalijinder Kaur who had a baby boy when she was 70.
